Discover East Africa

Zanzibar is the Spice Island — a dreamy Indian Ocean archipelago of coral-fringed white beaches, warm turquoise water and an ancient culture blending Arab, Swahili, Persian and Indian influences over 1,000 years of maritime trade. As the birthplace of Freddie Mercury and a former Omani Sultanate capital, Zanzibar's Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage labyrinth of ornately carved wooden doors, mosques, bazaars and crumbling coral-stone mansions — a living, breathing medieval city.

Step outside Stone Town and Zanzibar reveals its beach paradise: Nungwi and Kendwa in the north offer some of the Indian Ocean's finest white-sand beaches with warm, calm water. Paje in the southeast is famous for kitesurfing. The Mnemba Island Atoll is one of the Indian Ocean's finest dive sites. Zanzibar is most often combined with a Kenya or Tanzania safari for the complete Africa experience — EternalMiles packages this seamlessly.
